About Cesária Évora
- Grammy winner Évora, who died at the age of 70 in 2011, rose to international fame in the mid ‘90s with her melancholic morna ballads thanks to the tireless work of her manager José da Silva, who took her from a Lisbon club to world stages like the Hollywood Bowl. Never before-seen footage unearthed by director Fonseca will show the full picture behind the world music star.

Ana Sofia Fonseca is a talented storyteller. Born in Portugal, she lives with one foot in Portugal and the other one in Cabo Verde – she has a house two steps away from Cesária's house. For her, storytelling is a way of life. CESÁRIA ÉVORA is her second feature documentary. For years she has been dedicating herself to telling compelling stories with a focus on human rights themes – particularly stories about women’s rights and race issues.
With a successful twenty-year career in journalism, only seven years ago she had the courage to dive in her passion for cinema. Previously, as a journalist, Sofia worked on more than 20 television documentaries, published 5 research books and a novel. Her journalistic work has been recognised with multiple awards.

Ron Leshem and Amit Cohen are writer-producers best known for the drama series Euphoria, and False Flag, as well as the Hulu-Arte series No Man's Land. Uma Thurman's Apple TV+ series Suspicion, is an adaptation of False Flag.
Leshem served as head of content and programming for Keshet TV. He picked up and oversaw the development of some of the most popular and successful Israeli series, including the original of Homeland, The A-word, Arab Labor, Traffic Light, Baker and the Beauty. The film Beaufort, which Leshem co-wrote, was nominated for the Academy Awards. He won Israel's top literary award and his novels are translated to 20 languages.

Irina Calado

Irina Calado has collaborated with the most prestigious Portuguese animation companies as an author, director and producer. Her short films have been selected at national and international festivals, and her series broadcasted in numerous countries. In 2014 she joined Until the End of the World, one of the most awarded Portuguese production companies, and embraced another challenge: documentary production. She produced Until Porn Do Us Part by Jorge Pelicano and is now working on two documentaries.
